One of the most familiar figures
in Watertown's business life was lost
in the death of Stephen R. Ryan, Friday night, at his home in Stone
street, at the age of 66 years. His
forceful personality, shrewd business
judgment and broad wit had made
him known to thousands in all walks
of life.
Mr. Ryan had not been in good
health for the past two years, and
on last Monday was stricken with
serious heart trouble, which resulted
in death.
The funeral was held from the
family home at 9 o'clock Monday
monring and from St, Patrick's Roman
Catholic church at 9:30. Burial
was made at Glenwood cemetery.
Watertown lodge, No. 496, B. P. O.
Elks, of which Mr. Ryan was a charter
member and one of the founders,
attended the funeral in a body.
There are surviving a widow, Mrs.
Caroline Ryan, two sons, A, H. and
George W., of this city, and one sister,
Mrs. Cartherine Barnes of Amsterdam.
