Merlin Otto Schnoor was born 26 Nov 1918 to Otto Schnoor and Eva Schmidt (Smith). Merlin was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomer, Chippewa Co, WI on 1 Jan 1919 with witnesses David Schnoor and Birdie Smith.

Merlin married 16 Jul 1941 to Evelyn Katherine Pitts at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Bloomer, Chippewa Co, WI. Merlin and Evelyn had 6 children: Steven, Sandra, Marlene, Lana, Kathleen, and Linda.

Merlin served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He enlisted from Milwaukee, WI on 9 Nov. 1942 through the duration of the war.

Staff Sgt. Merlin Schnoor, an engineer-gunner in the European Theatre of War, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and Four Oak Leaf Clusters. He is the son of Eva Schnoor of Bloomer.

Merlin died 27 Jun 1997 aged 78 in Colfax, Dunn Co, WI.
