Steel Band Drummer and Teacher. He was nicknamed Boots because of his large size 14 feet. He was one of the directors of the steel band Casablanca, one of the oldest in Trinidad. Oil drum lids left behind by the United States Army after World War II acted as Davidson's first "drums." Using them to experiment with sound, he developed the "guitar drum." When visiting Britain in 1951 with the Trinidad All Steel Percussion Orchestra for the Festival of Britain, he decided to make it his home. After seven years working on the British Rail, the manual job damaged his hands making drumming difficult. He spent the rest of his life teaching and helping to tune instruments. Davidson died of a heart attack at home. He was buried with his wooden drum sticks.
