Helen Louise Richards Cumberland, former Tulsan, died July 6, 2012 at age 90 in Denver, CO. She was born August 30, 1921, in Doylestown, PA to Tulsans C.R. and Bertha Gayman Richards. She attended Lee Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High and Central High, class of 1939. She married Harold Eugene (Hal) Cumberland in 1944. Helen was predeceased by her husband, her brother John R. Richards of Tulsa, and a son, Robert Allen. Survivors include five children: Tom Cumberland and wife Catherine of Lexington, KY, Susan Hull and husband Brian of Hood River, OR, Laurie and husband Doug Meyer of Aurora, CO, Rick and wife Nancy Cumberland of Aurora, CO, and Jeff Cumberland of Denver, CO, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, class of 1943, Helen was president of University Independent Women. During World War II she worked as a sound engineer at KVOO. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sigma Kappa Soroity Advisor, Denver Republican Women's Club. Burial July 16, at Fort Logan Cemetery, Denver.
