Bernice was born November 22, 1924, in Scottsbluff County, NE, to Earl and Effie Mitilda (Nichol) Stanley. On March 25, 1945, she married Clem Wesley Russell in San Diego, CA.
She was employed for many years at the South Dakota State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.
Bernice was well known for baking cinnamon rolls for family and friends. She loved growing roses, gardening and sharing the produce from her garden.
Bernice is survived by her son, Henry ‘Gene' (Debra) Russell of Oral; daughters, Twila (Larry) Forney of Oelrichs, SD; Donna (Thomas) Kastl of Lakewood, CO; Sylvia (Andrew) Burlison of Greeley, CO; brother, Jim (Shirley) Walker of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church near Smithwick, SD, with Pastor Paul Smith officiating.
A memorial has been established in Bernice's name to benefit the Prairie View United Methodist Church.
