Mrs. A.W. Van Diest, the former Betty DeHaai of Pella, has sent word to Pella of her husband's death.

Dr A.W. Van Diest, 71, a prominent dentist in Webster City, died May 26 at the Hamilton County Hospital where he had been a patient for six weeks. He had been in failing health for several years.

Dr Van Diest was born in Prairie, Kansas, on May 18, 1901. He was reared and educated in that community and later attended and graduated from Central College. He received his degree in dental surgecy from the University of Iowa in 1927.

On September of 1927 he was united in marriage to Betty DeHaai of Pella, and the couple made their home in Webster City where Dr Van Diest began his dental practice.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Bob Van Diest and Arlo Van Diest, both of Webster City; five grandchildren and one brother, Harold Van Diest of Lenore, Kan.
