According to the local history book, Robert William Eugene Preston was an early businessman in Cartwright (a jeweller) who "eventually sold his stock and moved to Vancouver". He married Mary Elizabeth Murdoch on 29 December 1897 in the RM of Louise (later known as RM of Roblin). Other children born to the Prestons while they lived in Cartwright include Helen Elizabeth (b 12 Jan 1899), Euginie Isabella (b 21 March 1907) and Eldred Osmond (b 19 October 1909). Children born in Vancouver BC include Roberta (b ~1913) and Horace (b ~1916). Robert William Eugene Preston died 28 April 1937 in Vancouver.
