Matilda M. Woodson was the daughter of William Winn Woodson and Nancy Mills Woodson. Matilda is a direcrt descendant of Dr. John Woodson, who came to America in 1619.The Woodson family was very musical. Everyone of Matilda's brothers played a musical instrument. Alexander Johnston and Matilda Woodson married October 7, 1883 In Middleton, Missouri. They came to Arkansas in 1888 in a covered wagon along with Alexander's parents, Joseph and Susan Johnston. They all settled in Cleburne County Arkansas, 4 miles north of Quitman.
