Wanda Stubbs, 74, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002 in Shelby.
She was born Oct. 7, 1927 in Shelby the daughter of Paul and Fern (Bays) Stubbs. Wanda was a 1945 graduate of Shelby High School. She was employed in the office at Continental Motors and later at Oceana CAAP. Wanda was a member of Shelby United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer for the Oceana Historical Society sharing her expertise for over 25 years. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Folk Festival for over 20 years. Wanda loved flowers, birds, and daily nature walks. She was an avid reader. She treasured the time spent with her sisters, nieces, and nephews.
She is survived by her sisters, Pauline Stubbs, and Zona LaDoux, both of Shelby; her nieces and nephews, Gene (Arlene) LaDoux of West Branch, Ruth Ann (Michael) Handziak of Mt. Pleasant, Michael LaDoux of Ferry and Susan (David) Brimmer of Ferry; three great-nieces; five great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Fern Stubbs; and her brother, Forrest.
Funeral service Saturday, May 11, 4 p.m. at Cooper-Harris Funeral Home, Shelby with Rev. Bill Martin officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelby. Memorials to Shelby United Methodist Church or the Oceana County Historical Society are appreciated.
