Mrs. Frances Rebecca Morgan Dickson, 87, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community.
Mrs. Dickson was born in Transylvania County on May 1, 1914, to Porter A. Morgan and Rachel Justice Morgan.
She was a graduate of Rosman High School and was a longtime member of Mills River United Methodist Church. Much of her life was lived in Transylvania County before moving to Henderson County with her late husband, James Wade Dickson Jr. , in 1951. Mrs. Dickson moved to Arbor Acres in 1991.
Mr. Dickson preceded her in death in 1988. Surviving are her three daughters, Gena D. White of High Point, Audrey D. Wright of Greensboro and Gatha Dickson of Mills River; her son, James F. Dickson of Mills River; a sister, Selma M. Hunter of Brevard; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. in the cemetery of Mills River United Methodist Church Saturday, conducted by Mr. Richard Rhodes. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service. Memorials may be made to either Arbor Acres United Methodist Church Retirement Community, 1240 Arbor Road, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, NC 27401; or to Mills River United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, Route I, Box 112, Horse Shoe, NC 28742. Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel is serving the family in Winston-Salem and Thomas Shepherd Funeral Home in Hendersonville.
