"The body of Mr. John Sensenich, who was drowned in the Cocalico creek on the night of the 30th ultimo, was yesterday found, about three miles below the dam into which he was precipitated."

John was the son of Dr. Jacob and Barbara (Musselman) Sensenig. He was collecting taxes when he was attacked by a bandit and fell into the creek.

His wife was Margaret Zwally, the widow of Solomon Siechrist/Siegrist. Margaret had inherited, through her husband's will, 301 acres of land spanning the Cocalico Creek in Warwick and Elizabeth Townships. In 1801, after their marriage, Margaret and John effectively transferred title to the land to John by passing it through Casper Shaffner, and ultimately back to John alone (Deeds 14-416 & 14-418)

In her will Margaret left everything to John, and vice versa. Margaret died first. When John died, his brothers, Abraham and Joshua, expected an inheritance, as did Margaret's brother, Christian Zwally, of Heidelberg Township.

The compromise was an agreement for division of the land between Christian Zwally and Sarah, his wife, of Heidelberg Township, Lebanon County; Abraham Sensenig and Margaret, his wife, of Chambersburg, Franklin County; and Joshua Sensenig and Nancy, his wife, of Baltimore, Maryland (Deed 16-670). Christian Zwally received 125 acres subject to water rights to "swell the creek" as needed.

Christian Zwally then deeded the land to his son, Christian Zwally, of Earl Township. (Deed D7-409).
