Ottice Neal Fortner of Oxford, formerly of Lambert, age 87, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Mississippi State Veteran's Home in Oxford of heart failure.
Services were Saturday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lambert with the Rev. Don O'Quin officiating. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home of Marks had charge.
Born May 3, 1922, in Mantee, he was a retired farmer. Mr. Fortner served in the U. S. Army in World War II with the 10th Armored Division. He was a member of Lambert First Baptist Church, where he served 34 years as a Sunday school teacher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Chaney Fortner, and his parents, Ocie and Myrtle Henley Fortner.
He is survived by two sisters, Frances Ashby of Memphis and Bernice Ferguson of Vardaman, and three brothers, James L. Fortner of Marks, Howard Fortner of Andalusia, AL, and Bobby Fortner of Memphis.
