Son of Tobias J and Nannie Logdon Vance
Officer Vance had served only three weeks with the Louisville Division of Police when he was murdered. While on duty and in plainclothes he chased a suspicious man from a store. During the chase another person shot and killed Officer Vance at Brook Street and Burnett Avenue.
He was survived by a wife, a son and three daughters. His brother was also a police officer with the same agency at the time of his murder.
