Robert H. Summers, 82, Edwardsport, passed away Thursday June 14, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Robert was born January 27, 1930 in Daviess County to George and Edna (Hill) Summers. He married Marquita (Winkler) Summers on September 10, 1949 and she passed on March 27, 1998. He married his second wife, Trula Mae Briner on November 27, 2002 and she survives.
Robert was the president for Robert Summers and Sons, Inc.,and a member of the Edwardsport First Baptist Church. Robert is survived by his wife, Trula; two sons, Michael G. Summers of Edwardsport and Randy Summers and his wife Kathy of Edwardsport; two step-daughters, Carolyn Shepard and her husband Terry of Bruceville and Susan Toler and her husband Craig of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Jason Summers, Jeremy Summers, Justin Summers, Bo Summers, Mitchell Summers, and Michael Po; four great-grandchildren, Dillon Summers, Lucas Summers, Cordelia Marquita Summers, and Michael Robert Summers; three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Marquita, and one step grandson Nathan Carlson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday June 18, 2012 at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with John Trotter officiating and burial following at the Edwardsport IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edwardsport First Baptist Church.
