Mrs. Anna J. McCarty, mother of Howard McCarty, of Reno, died Wednesday in Stockton. She was a resident of this area from 1904 to 1907. Mrs. McCarty is survived by one
brother, Henry Heck, of Wisconsin, and 9 grandchildren,in addition to her son. Grandchildren are William and Charles McCarty of Reno; Mrs. Marguerite Kerr and Mrs. Delores Walker of Sparks; The Reverend Elwood James LaVoy of Carson City; Sister M. Ignatius of San Rafael; Sister M. Gerald of Reno; Major John Howard LaVoy of Hawaii, and Mrs. Rita Bugia of Baltimore, Maryland. 10 great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. McCarty was a native of Madison, Wisconsin, and one of the earliest residents of the Sparks area where she settled from Kansas in 1904. In 1947, she moved to Oakland for medical care.

Mrs. McCarty was 90 at the time of her death. She was under care of the Dominican Sisters at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton.

Friends are invited to attend the recitation of the rosary at the Ross-Burke Chapel at 7:30 p.m. today. Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks at a time to be announced later.
