Joseph P. "Johnny" Funk, 81, of 417 1/2 North Street, McSherrystown, died Friday at 11:28 a.m. at the Hanover General Hospital where he had been a patient for two days.
Born in Mount Misery, he was the son of the late Francis and Ida Hockensmith Funk. He was the husband of the late Blanche C Becker Funk, who died in 1973.
He was employed by the Hanover Heel and Intersole for 48 years. He was a member of the Annunciation Church of McSherrystown and was a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association, the Mcsherrystown Moose, the McSherrystown Fire Company, the Irishtown Fire Company and the Littlestown Eagles.
He is survived by three sons, Bernard L. Funk of Harrisburg; Francis J. Funk of Hanover and Carroll G, Funk of McSherrystown; four grandchildren, three brothers; Leo J. and Raymond F. Funk, both of New Oxford and Curtis Funk of Elizabethtown, and two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Buckle of York and Mrs. Anna Plitt of Anaheim, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, meeting at the Hicks Funeral Home in McSherrystown at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Annuciation Church at 9 a.m. with his pastor the rev. Paul M. Miller officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
