Rec'd at General Hospital, Howards Grove, Richmond, VA on May 17, 1864 (age 50, occupation farmer) with injury of VS (Vulnus Sclopeticum relating to a wound caused by a gunshot wound) in the middle tibia, compound comminuted fracture. On May 19 they amputated his leg at the upper third of the tibia and on May 26, 1864 he died from pyemia (blood poisoning)
