FROM THE CHRONICLE TELEGRAM DATED: AUGUST 15, 1993:

Services for Blanche I. Abbe, 87, of Elyria will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bauer-Laubenthal-Wainwright Funeral Home, at Chestnut Ridge Road and Route 57 in Elyria. Pastor Jeffrey Brown, of Spring Valley Grace Breteran Church in Elyria, will officiate. Mrs. Abbe died Friday at the Altercare of North Ridgeville Nursing Home. Burial will be in Nesbett Cemetery in Grafton. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Born in 1906, she was a lifelong Elyria resident. During the 1950s, she helped her husband, the late Dudley W. Abbe, build homes. He owned his own construction business. Mrs. Abbe was a member of Singles In Harmony Sunday School at the Church of the Open Door in Elyria. She enjoyed fishing. When she spent winters in Florida, she also enjoyed catching shrimp and oyster digging.

Survivors include a son, Dale E. of Elyria; a daughter, Lois Kivipelto of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dudley W. Abbe, in 1980; three brothers and three sisters.
