Mary and Gottleib Durst were married on February 12, 1883 in Cedar Valley, Travis County, Texas. Mary was a member of the Methodist Church. Upon the untimely death of her husband, Mary continued farming the land and raising livestock with the help of her children. Neither Gottleib nor Mary ever left the Durst property. Mary's funeral service was conducted in her home at Fly Gap by Rev. F.W. Radetzky of Castell assisted by Rev. C.F. Bohmfalk of Art. Her nephews were pall bearers. Mary is buried on the old Gottleib Durst ranch alongside her husband.
