Billie Faye Gailey, 77, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, July 13th, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 4, 1934, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Fay Oglesby and Edna Mae Bardwell Oglesby. Mrs. Gailey was reared in Pine Bluff, AR and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1952. Billie Faye was a member of the Pine Bluff High A Cappella choir. She was employed by Southwestern Bell for two years.
Billie Faye spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and helpmate to her husband, Glennard S. Gailey. They were married May 22nd, 1953, at Forrest Park Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR.
Billie Faye spent her days as a homemaker until her daughters reached high school age. Then, she was hired by the Jefferson County Health Dept. and later, the Jefferson County Highway Dept. to aide in putting her children through college. She once again became a homemaker when she found out that she and her husband would, again, have another daughter bless their family and come to live in their home.
Mrs. Gailey actively participated in her church choir program while she was able. Billie Faye was a member of Summit Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gailey was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Oglesby; her husband, Glennard S. Gailey; her brother, Gayle Oglesby, and her sister, Mary Edna Finley.
Survivors include her three daughters and their husbands: Jeff & Donna Ferris of Pine Bluff, AR; Mike & Diane Clement of Rison, AR; and Layne & Ruth Johnston of Maumelle, AR. Mrs. Gailey also is survived by three grandchildren and their spouses: Jordan & Amanda Ferris of Pine Bluff, AR; Jonathan & Emily Barnes of San Antonio, TX; and Beth Ellen Ferris of Arkadelphia, AR. She has one great-granddaughter, Ainsley Barnes of San Antonio, TX.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 16th, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Rev. Tom Hart, Dr. Roger Stewart, and Lt. Jordan Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral directors. Visitation will be Sunday, July 15th, from 2-4 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson's.
