BEVERLY G. "Frenchie" FRENCH

Beverly G. French 75, Abilene, Kansas, died Sunday December 21, 2003 at the Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas. He was born May 12, 1928 at Carlton, Kansas, the son of Glen E. and Lucille (Sutton) French. He moved to Abilene, Kansas, as a child, attended the Abilene Schools, and graduated from Abilene high School with the class of 1945. He then worked at the Abilene Mill prior to entering the United States army in 1950.On April 16, 1951 he was united in marriage with Ruby Debenham at Abilene. All their married life was spent in Abilene.He attended barber school in Oklahoma City, and owned and operated his own barber shop for 48 years. He was part owner of the Old Abilene Town, tourist attraction for over 20 years. He was a charter member of the Abilene Eagles Aerie, and past Exalted Ruler of the Abilene Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife Ruby of the home, one daughter, Debbie Hawk, Abilene, Kansas, one son Douglas French, Las Vegas, Nevada, one brother, Marcus French, Aurora, Colorado, two sisters, Linda Holmes, Abilene, Kansas, and Carol Roger, Papillion, Nebraska, ,2 grandchildren, Joe Hawk, and Crystal Kohman, Abilene, Kansas, 4 great grandchildren, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Mavis Bean and a daughter in infancy..
Funeral services will be held at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene, Kansas, Wednesday December 24, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Virgil Eubanks officiating. Burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7-8 PM where friends may call until time of service.
The family of Beverly G. French suggests that friends may contribute to the American Heart Association or the charity of their choice in his memory. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
