Thomas served as a Private, Company I, 59th Pioneer Infantry, 2nd Army Corps, U.S. Army during World War I.

He had previously served with Company M, 114th Infantry, 29th Infantry Division.

He resided in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on July 2, 1917.

Thomas died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident after World War I had ended.
