Mr. Meriweather died Friday at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. after an illness.
A Montgomery County, Tenn., native he was born Aug. 22, 1895, the son of James and Sally Perkins Meriweather. He was a retired minister, having held pastorates at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadiz. McCarroll Hill Baptist Church in Christian County, and Cabin Row Baptist Church in Montgomery County.
He was a member of Middle Tennesse and Cumberland River Baptist associations.
Survivors include his wife, Elnora G. Dennis Meriweather; four sons, Charlie G., Alonzo and Alingo, all of Oak Grove, and Jerry O. Meriweather, Hopkinsville; three daughters, Cynthia Reeves, Indianapolis, Ind., Rosa Anderson, Clarksville, and Gracie Quarles, this city; a sister, Corine Outlaw, St. Louis, Mo.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
