Oliver M. Stephens, 99, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Oliver was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Gustine to John Washington and Emma Bell Stephens. For the first nine years of his life he lived on a farm by the Leon River, near Gustine. Along with his brothers and sister, he was raised at the Masonic Home after his father passed away when he was 9 years old. While at the Masonic Home he learned the trade of printing pressman. During his career as a printing pressman he worked for Claude Cross Printing, Don Cowan Printing, Masonic Home Print Shop and Reimers-Taylor Printing. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Texas Rangers, and spending time with family and friends. He was the son of a Civil War veteran, a Master Mason and a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. He will be greatly missed by his family as well as those who knew and loved him. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Anita Hearn Stephens; and his brothers and sister. Survivors: Son, Jim Stephens and wife, Jane, of North Richland Hills; and several nieces and nephews.
