Obit of R.L. Yancey: Jan 8,1844-Feb 23,1925, Mr R.L. Yancey, well and affectionately known as "Uncle Bob" passed away at his home three miles northeast of Ripley on last Thursday morning. His remains were laid to rest on the following day in the Rucker graveyard. Rev Gulett, his pastor at MT Moriah Baptist Church, conducting the funeral service. Mr Yancey leaves a wife and several children. He was 32 years of age, was a confederate veteran, and saw service in the thickest of the conflict at Gettysburg and on many other notable battle fields. No braver or truer soldier ever went forth to the gory field than Bob Yancey. In civil life as in his soldier career he .was a man of the highest and best type. A hard working farmer, who made a good living,, provided well for his family, believed in the majesty of the law, and was as honest as the days are long. Mr Yancey was a cheerful man, always scattering sunshine and dispelling shadows wherever he went. He loved his country and his friends and was thoroughly devoted to his family. No man in the county had more friends than Bob Yancey and his death is universally regretted where his sunny life was known. To his devoted wife and his children and other relatives the Sentinel extends its deepest sympathy.

NOTE: 23 Feb 1925 was not a Thursday - but a Monday.
