John S. "Johnny" Shelton, Sr., 81, of Falmouth died Sat., Feb. 14, 2004 at Mary Washington Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born November 13, 1922 in Fredericksburg to Martin and Gertrude Shelton, also of Falmouth. John joined the Army in 1942 and served during World War II.

Johnny's career as a master craftsman took him to New York building skyscrapers and then returned home where he owned and operated a restaurant and service station, where Noble Cars is today. He was one of the original founders and a life member of the Falmouth Fire Department where he had served as fire chief from 1962-1969. He was a member of Falmouth Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 290, and the Plasterers Local 96, Washington, D.C. Johnny loved to recall the history of Falmouth, outdoor activities, and having family around him. He never met a stranger in need he didn't offer help and was the one everyone in the family went to for advice. He will live forever in our memories.

Shelton, two daughters, Judy Fines and her husband, Carlyle of Spotsylvania; Becky Shelton Croom of Falmouth; two sons, John "Sonny" Shelton of Danville and Martin F.
