He was a former flight instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Force and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1940. During WWII, he was a pilot with the Eighth Air Force, 100th Bomber Group stationed in England. He was shot down over Leipzig, Germany in 1944 and taken prisoner; he was released in 1945. After his discharge, he applied for recall and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, where he flew heavy bombers until his retirement in 1966.
His decorations include two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal with eight oak leaf clusters and the Air Commendation Medal.
He is survived by his father, his wife Jeanne McMahon Fuller; his children Gregory W. (of the U.S. Coast Guard), Patrick, Brian; Kathleen, (and from a previous marriage) Kerry Fuller and Kim Fuller.
