Actress, Entertainer. A lush, full-bodied, redheaded dancer, she is remembered for her role as 'Carol Dodsworth', the mistress of Danny DeVito, in the film "Ruthless People" (1986) and for her sensual performance as 'Carla' in the musical "Nine," opposite Raul Julia, that opened on Broadway in 1982 and ran for over 700 performances, and for which she received a Tony Award nomination for a Best Featured Actress. Born Anita Rose Morris, she began her stage career in the American Mime Theatre. In addition to "Nine," she then appeared on Broadway in "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1971), "Seesaw" (1973), "The Magic Show" (1974, cast album & video/DVD), "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" (1978) and "Sugar Babies" (1979, replacement for the 'Soubrette' originated by Ann Jillian). Her other film credits include the comedy-drama "The Hotel New Hampshire" (1984, as Rob Lowe's lover Rhonda Ray), the British rock musical "Absolute Beginners' (1986, with David Bowie), the comedy "18 Again!" (1988, with George Burns and Charlie Schlatter), and "Bloodhounds of Broadway" (1989, with Madonna, Randy Quaid, and Matt Dillon), "Off and Running" (1992, with Cyndi Lauper), "Me and the Kid" (1993, with Danny Aiello), and "Little Miss Millions" (1993). In 1980 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Given only five years to live, she fought the disease and lived for another 14 years. During the 1980s and early 1990s, she played guest roles in television sitcoms and dramas, including "Miami Vice," "Who's the Boss?," "Murder, She Wrote," "Cheers," "Melrose Place," "Matlock," "Tales from the Crypt," "Berringer's," "Murphy Brown," "A Different World," "Down and Out in Beverly Hills," and "Major Dad." She also appeared in the television movies "Big Blonde" (1980), "A Masterpiece of Murder" (1986), "A Smoky Mountain Christmas" (1986), and the mini-series "Trade Winds" (1993). In 1984 she appeared in The Rolling Stones' music video "She Was Hot". Her final film appearance was in "Radioland Murders" (1994) as singer 'Claudette Katzenback'. She died of ovarian cancer at the age of 50.
