Yesterday Judge Meekel granted a divorce to Mrs. Gussie Hillerman from Clifford Hillerman, on the grounds of desertion. Mrs. Hillerman was given the custody of their infant child.

BOATS CRUSH HIS LEGS

A PECULIAR WAY IN WHICH TO BREAK ON'S (sic) LEGS

Cliff Hillerman, 38 years old, a laborer for the Stewart-Peck Sand company, and living at 746 Osage avenue, received such injuries in a collision of two sand barges owned by the Stewart-Peck Sand company this morning that his right leg will have to be amputated.

Cliff has been working three days for the sand company. This morning he was sitting on the front of one of the sand barges, porbably (sic) looking back of him, when another boat swerved around and caught both of his legs, crushing his right leg between the ankle and the knee is such a way that it will have to be amputated. His left leg was broken between the knee and thigh.

Dr. Rieger treated him and sent him to St. Margaret's hospital.

CLIFFORD HILLERMAN KILLED

Clifford Hillerman, 38 years old, an organizer for the Improved Order of Red Men, was crushed to death Tuesday morning, when two sand barges collided in the Kaw river near the West Kansas avenue bridge. Hillerman was sitting on one barge with his feet dangling at the side when the other barge crashed against him. His legs were crushed, and he died on an operating table at St. Margaret's hospital. Hillerman lived at 746 Osage avenue. He leaves a wife and two children.

His feet hanging over a sand barge belonging to the Stewart Peck Sand company for whom he worked Cliff Hillerman, aged 38 years, of 746 Osage avenue, was crushed to death on the Kaw river Tuesday by another barge. A widow and two children survive.

Clifford Hillerman, formerly of Emporia, was killed in Kansas City a week ago Tuesday. He was pumping water out of the hull of a boat towing a sand barge. The barge swung around and crushed him against a beam. He died in St. Margaret's hospital two hours later. His funeral was held in Emporia Friday afternoon.
