Sarah Frances Freitag, 97, Henderson, died at 10:58 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Methodist Hospital.

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Henderson, where she belonged to the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a retired registered nurse, having worked at the former Henderson Hospital, Methodist Hospital and the Evansville State Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward "Jack" Freitag, who died in 1966; one brother, William Jennings Grider, who died in 1944; and her parents, William Frederick and Frances Elizabeth Jennings Grider.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Meux and her husband, Dr. Joseph C. Meux, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, John William "Bill" Freitag and his wife, Donna, of Henderson; three grandchildren, Clay Meux and his wife, Elizabeth, John Meux and Christina Freitag Martin and her husband, Patrick; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Davis Meux.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at The Presbyterian Church of Henderson. The Rev. John Guthrie will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Presbyterian Church of Henderson.

Pallbearers will be Mac Arnold, James Bates, Hugh Stone, Robert Jenkins, Clay Meux and John Meux.
