Obituary from The Daily Herald (Provo, UT) - Monday, January 8, 1934:
Death came Sunday afternoon to Mrs. Luella Newell Haws, 82, a Provo resident for 81 years. She died at her home, 1200 North University Avenue from ailments incident to age.
Mrs. Haws was born in Pottawattomie County, Iowa, April 2, 1852. At the age of six months she came with her pioneer parents to Utah, settling at Provo. She was the first President of the Y.L.M.I.A. in the Provo Third Ward. She was a Relief Society teacher in the Pleasant View Ward and was a member of the Pleasant View Ward Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Mrs. Haws attended the Dusenberry school and the Wandell school in her early years, later attending the B.Y. Academy. On October 3, 1870 she married Gilbert Haws in the Salt Lake Endowment House. He died in 1917.
Surviving are one brother, Myron C. Newell, Provo; one sister, Lucy E. Hoaglin, Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Baum, Ashton, Idaho; Mrs. W. E. Andrews, Provo; Mrs. Zora Holman, Taber, Canada; 26 grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
