Mrs. Emma M. Stangel, age 95, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died
Sunday afternoon, November 1, 1992, at St. Mary's Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 5,
1992, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc with the Rev. William Zimmer
officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tisch Mills,
Wis.
She was born June 2, 1897, at Tisch Mills, daughter of the late Frank and Mary
Holly Beranek. She grew up and was educated at Tisch Mills. She and her husband
owned and operated Stangel's Grocery Store in Tisch Mills until 1953 when they
moved to Manitowoc for retirement. She was married to Joseph Stangel May 14, 1918
and he preceded her in death May 23, 1964.
Survivors include one son and two daughters-in-law, Wilbert and Elaine Stangel,
Munising, Mich., and Mrs. Woodrow (Elaine) Stangel, Manitowoc; two brothers and
one sister-in-law, Frank Beranek, Texas, and Alvin and Eleanor Beranek, Tisch
Mills; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mrs. Robert (Adeline) Stangel, Two
Rivers, and Eleanor and Gregory Lutz, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; seven grandchildren;
thirteen great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also
survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Woodrow, and three sisters.
Friends may call at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home from 9 a.m.
until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday.
