Rudolph Stangel, 68, widely known retired Tisch Mills farmer, for years prominent in banking and church circles and active in affairs of his community, died suddenly at his home in the village Sunday afternoon of a heart stroke. He previously had been in good health.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Joseph Kalisek officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Born on a farm near Tisch Mills in 1884, a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary Cherney Stangel, Rudolph Stangel lived in the community his entire life. Graduating from the Tisch Mills District School, he took over the operation of the farm of his parents as a young man. In 1905, he married Emma Rezach. The couple moved to a home in the village three years ago. Up to his death, he served as a director of the Tisch Mills State Bank, now a branch of the Two Rivers Savings Bank for 20 years and for more than 30 years had been treasurer of the County Line Telephone Company. He also was a treasurer of the St. Mary's congregation and vice president of the St. Mary's Cemetery Association. His affiliations included membership in the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Church and the Catholic Family Life Insurance Association.

Mr. Stangel is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Rodkiewicz of Two Rivers; and three sons, Wallace of DePere, manager of radio station WBAY, Green Bay, Robert, cashier of the Tisch Mills branch of the Two Rivers Savings Bank, and Clarence Stangel, at home, a teacher in the Mishicot High School. There are also eight grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Joseph Taluchka, preceded him in death at Tisch Mills, four years ago.

Friends may call at the Stangel home at Tisch Mills until the time of services. The casket was brought to the home from the Klein & Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, late Thursday afternoon. The rosary will be recited at the home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 p.m. Friday by the Holy Name Society members.
