ROBERT STANGEL (d. 1992)
Robert R. Stangel, 82, of 2917-42nd Street, Two Rivers, died Friday afternoon,
May 29, 1992, at Two Rivers Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church,
Two Rivers. Rev's Donald Feller and Mark Stangel will officiate with burial at
St. Mary Cemetery, Tisch Mills.
He was born April 23, 1910, in the town of Carlton, son of the late Rudolph and
Emma Rezach Stangel. He graduated from St. Norbert College, DePere, in 1934. On
August 6, 1935, he married the former Adeline Beranek at St. Mary Catholic Church,
Tisch Mills. The couple celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary. Mr. Stangel
was with the former Two Rivers Savings Bank for 48 years. He was Bank Branch
Manger (sic) and Postmaster at Tisch Mills. In 1966, he became Vice President/
Cashier until he retired in 1975. He was a past treasurer of St. Mary Parish,
Tisch Mills for 30 years. He also served Holy Redeemer as treasurer and also a
member of the church council. He was honorary life member of the Knights of
Columbus, Mishicot-Tisch Mills Council. He was an active member of several bank
and postal associations plus various community organizations. He was an active
member of Two Rivers Rotary Club serving as its treasurer for the past 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Adeline; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joan
Stangel of Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and John Johnson of
Johnston, Iowa; two grandchildren, Robert and Courtney Johnson; a sister and
brother-in-law, Mabel and Joseph Rodkiewicz of Two Rivers; a brother and sister-
in-law, Wallace and Gertrude Stangel of DePere; several nieces and nephews and
many friends. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Clarence Stangel.
