BAMBERG - Services for John "J.C." Curtis Russell Sr., 81, of 7070 Hunters Chapel Rd., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spring Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donnie Delk and Dr. Richard D. Crider officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Cooner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Spring Branch Baptist Church.
Mr. Russell died January 3, 2002. Born in Eutawville on March 2, 1920, he was a son of the late John Marvin Russell and Marie Crummie Russell. Mr. Russell was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Myrline Crider Russell; son, Curtis of Summerville; daughters, Johnnie R. Frye of Columbia, Patricia R. Fair of Kernersville, N.C., Deborah R. Morris of Irmo; brothers, Mervin Russell of Bamberg, Billy Russell of Charleston, Eugene Russell of Savannah; sisters, Susie Thomas of Fairfax, Margaret Garrett of Bamberg, Odell Smoak of Charleston, Verna Padgett and Doris Ayer, both of Bamberg, Norma Bell of Salley, Barbara Bell of Springfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand-children; nieces; nephews.
