James Albert Current, 87, of Statesville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 after several years of declining health.
He was born on July 23, 1928 in Iredell County, to the late Lester and Mollie Wooten Current. Mr. Current attended Iredell County Schools and retired from the maintenance department at Burlington Industries in Mooresville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Harris, Ada Tomlin, Maude Wallace; and brothers, Avery, Johnny, Paul and Clay Current.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Malinda Lipe Current; daughter, Gail Anthony (Brian) of Statesville; son, Glenn Current of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren, Cindy Cook (Cleon) of Statesville, Stacy Park (Jae) of Lewisville, NC, Matthew Current (Joni) of Statesville; great grandchildren, Bri Johnson, Mariah Johnson, Honey Park, Jalyn Park, Laiken Park, Aiden Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 31 at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Stollger and Rev. Lawrence Ownbey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Current’s Sunday School Class at Berea Baptist Church.
