Frederick Charles Grambo was born at Selfridge Field, Michigan. His father, Frederick C. Grambo, Sr. was killed in WWII in 1944. His mother, Doris Ellen Feltham Grambo, then married Stuart Roscoe Oglesby III in 1946 in Atlanta, and Rickie was adopted by his stepfather. He died by drowning in Frankfurt, Germany in 1957.

Frederick was initially buried at Oakland cemetery on June 9, 1957, with his Oglesby grandparents. On Dec 11, 1957 his body was removed and reinterred at Decatur cemetery.
