Obituary.

Ella Anna Gilbert was born September 1, 1855 at Melrose, Ia., and departed this life April 18, 1918 at Independence, Kansas, aged 62 years, 7 months and 17 days.

She was one daughter of fourteen children of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gilbert.

Four of her brothers and sisters died in infancy. Four of her brothers served in the Civil war, and one brother died in service at Little Rock, Arkansas. The other three brothers died a number of years after the close of the war. These boys enlisted in different companies from Indiana.

The youngest brother died five years ago.

Her father Wm. Gilbert, died June 9, 1879 at the age of 65 years.

Her mother Elizabeth Gilbert died April 30, 1902, at the age of 85 years.

She has two brothers and two sisters who survive her viz; Lois Nancy Robinson, Albia, Ia.; Edwin Gilbert, Rexford, Kansas; Stephen Gilbert, Russel, Ia.; Louisa Virginia West, Annily, Oregon.

On September 8, 1875 the deceased was united in marriage to John Franklin Hancock and to this union eight children were born: Dr. Ivy Edith Hancock, Independence, Kansas; Hawkeye Hugo Hancock, Judith Gap, Mont.; Claud Sumner Hancock, who died at the age of 6 years in 1886; Webster Clay Hancock, Clayton, N.M.; Rhoda Pearl Hancock Stewart, Kremmling, Colorado; Albert Vardaman Hancock, Okmulgee, Okla.; Wm. Hobart Hancock, Kresa, Okla.

She is also survived by her husband of Nowata, Okla., and four grandchildren, Myrtle Hancock, Clayton, N.M.; Ivella Stewart, Mildred Stewart, and Robert Stewart of Kremmling, Colo.

The deceased has been a member of the Christian church for forty one years and also a member of the local W.R.C.

The funeral was held at the residence of Dr. Ivy Hancock this morning. Rev. F.L. Pettit and the W.R.C. had charge of the service.
