Mr. John R. (Bob) Gore, age 62, of Decatur, formerly of Rockmart, died August 4 in an Atlanta hospital. He was born November 18, 1923 in Aragon, GA. He was the Georgia State Fire Marshall for over 20 years and was with the Georgia State Fire Marshall for over 30 years. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Savannah Brown Gore. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Lee Gore of Decatur; a son, Major Robert Lee Gore of Fort Pope, LA; and daughter, Mrs. Lyn Deitrich of Lilburn; a brother, Harvey Gore of Rockmart and two sisters, Mrs. L.D. Maton, Dallas and Mrs. Tommie Lee White of Rockmart. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7 from the chapel of A.S. Turner Funeral Home in Decatur with Dr. G. Gil Watson and Rev. Cecil Ethridge officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
