Grace Leahy
Grace Mullen Leahy passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at Oakwood Village East Madison at the age of 95. She was born on Aug. 20, 1919 in rural Darlington, the daughter of Frank L. and Mary (Gabel) Mullen. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1936. Grace was united in marriage at Holy Rosary Catholic Church to Frank "Jud" Leahy on Nov. 30, 1939. Together, they spent most of their years raising their family and running their Shullsburg businesses: Leahy's Market and The Burg Theatre. Upon retirement in 1983, they moved to Las Vegas, N.V. Grace moved back to Wisconsin in January of 2014.

Grace is survived by her sons: Ted (Bev) Leahy, Huntersville, N.C.; Tom Leahy, Las Vegas, Nev.; Tim (Sandy) Leahy, Las Vegas, Nev..; Terry (Teresa) Leahy, Tiburon, Calif.; daughters: Mary Jo (Doug) Riechers, Cuba City; Kay (Mark) Alexander, Madison; Jill (Ken) Staver, Darlington; Sue (Andrew) Doyle, Decorah, Iowa; 21 grandchildren: Ted's-Patty (Greg), Molly (Mark), Mike, and Jack; Tom's-Angie (Pepe'), Stephanie (Frank), and Jay (Krista); Tim's-Brian (Carolina), Dianne, and Patrick; Terry's-Serena and Brendan; Mary Jo's-Alice (Dave), Erin, and Joshua; Kay's-Chris (Amanda) and Tim; Jill's-Matthew (Kristy) and Ann; and Sue's-Connor and Brianna; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven very special nieces and nephews: Betty, Jackie, Bill, Charlene, Sheila, Nancy, and Bob.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her parents; daughter-in-law Sharon Leahy; granddaughter Debby Leahy; siblings: Florence, Helen Tuomi, Cyril, Harold, Marion Short, Eleanor Mullen; and niece and nephew Bonnie and Bill Short.

Grace enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She loved sewing, golfing, and playing cards. For several years she was a Boy Scouts' Den Mother. She was also an active member of the Darlington Country Club as well as the Canyon Gate Country Club in Las Vegas and enjoyed weekly golf until the age of 87. Grace was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Shullsburg, and also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 69 years. Gracie will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church 344 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg, with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be at St. Matthew Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, 235 N. Judement St., Shullsburg. A visitation will also be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at St. Matthew on Thursday. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
