Billy Wilson Broaddus, Sr., 85, was a decorated U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He served as a church leader, Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder throughout his life, and was a member of Rice Station Christian Church. He served his community as a Hospice volunteer, as well as on mission trips in the US and Haiti. Mr. Broaddus crafted rustic crosses from nails; freely giving them to anyone who wanted one. He used these crosses as a part of his lifelong testimony of faith. He retired from CSX in 1988 and enjoyed a lifetime of farming, fishing and listening to music.
