Raymond Slack, 73 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away July 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
He was born April 12, 1939 in Amherst, Ohio. Raymond was a lifetime resident of Amherst. He was employed in the loading dock at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for thirty-three years before retiring in 1991. Raymond was a member of the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1442 where he participated with the billiards league. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his three sons, his three daughters, and his companion of twenty years Pam; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, his sister of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Grace; brother Richard Slack; and his parents Matthew and Clara Slack (nee: Bach).
Friends may call Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. The Rev. Scott Mitchell, pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice; 5255 North Abbe, Elyria, OH 44035.
