-- YORK - Mr. Kenneth Richard Simpson, 68, of York, S.C., passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C.

Services for Mr. Simpson will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, with Pastor Kenneth Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Simpson was a native of Union County, N.C., and the son of the late Charles R. and Christine Helms Simpson. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired insurance agent for 46 years in the York County and surrounding areas. Mr. Simpson also played country, beach and oldies music in several area bands. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Simpson and his sisters, Betty L. Sturgis and Marie S. Martin.

Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Patricia Ghant Simpson; his daughters, Martha S. Barnwell and Tina S. Davis and her husband, Brian, all of Rock Hill; his brother, Ronnie Simpson of Myrtle Beach; his sisters, Sue S. Teague of Roxboro, N.C., and Jeanette S. Hardman of Spring, Texas; and his five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until time of service, Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.
