LARNED - Fred Stude died at 2 p.m. Sunday at the St. Joseph Hospital here. He lived southeast of Garfield and had
farmed in that community 44 years.

Survivors are four sons, Herman, Bucklin, Kenneth, Minneola, Harold and Melvern, both of Garfield; two brothers, John, Copeland, and Arthur, Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Frank King,Hutchinson; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Chapel and burial in the Garfield Cemetery.

Fred Stude, son of William and Mary (Rolfs) Stude, was born in Stafford, Kansas, September 14, 1889, and died in Larned, KS. April 28, 1957.

Mr. Stude lived in Stafford until 1913, when he moved to the Garfield Community. He has farmed all his life. On June 19, 1915, he was united in marriage to Lena H. Blume, and to this union four sons were born; Herman of Bucklin; Kenneth of Minneola; Harold and Melburn of Garfield.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred, of St. Louis, Mo., and his wife who died October 24, 1951.

He is survived by two brothers, John of Copeland, Arthur of Harrison, Arkansas, a sister Mrs. Frank (Esther) King of Hutchinson, Ks., his four sons and nine grandchildren.

Having farmed in the Garfield Community for 44 years, Fred was known as a sportsman and hunter, and was in high repute by friends and neighbors for his honesty and sincerity.

Surviving are four sons; Herman, Bucklin; Kenneth, Minneola; Harold and Melburn both of Garfield; two brothers, John, Copeland; and Arthur, Harrison, Arkansas; a sister Mrs. Frank King, Hutchinson and nine grandchildren.
