Robert McConnell was born in Metal Twp., Franklin County, Pennsylvania, his parents were Robert McConnell and Nancy Osler. His father died when he was a year old. He was raised by his Father's sister's, Martha Walker and Jane McConnell. Robert went to Illinois to visit his Uncle James and Francis McConnell and he settled in Iowa were he met and married Maria Louisa Lamour. They were married August 18, 1886 in Hampton, Franklin County, Iowa. They migrated to Nebraska, and settled on a Farm in Bridgeport. They were the parents of three children Elsie May, Robert Earl, and Cyril Denny McConnell.
