James Patrick "Pat" Batchelor, 84, passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, following a brief illness. He was born in Pine Bluff, Ark.

He leaves to honor his memory his loving wife of 54 years, Eva Lois Batchelor of Lake Charles, and sister, Catherine Tutt of Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Mr. Batchelor spent most of his life in El Dorado, Ark., where he entered the Navy. Following his service, he completed his degree in Petroleum engineering. He retired District Manager, having worked 32 as an Engineer for Stanolind Oil and Gas (now British Petroleum). Following his retirement he was appointed Commissioner of Conservation and Assistant Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, regulating the Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Mr. Batchelor returned to Lake Charles, La., to make it his retirement home.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Interment will be at a later date will be in Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martin dePorres Building Fund, P.O. Box 4386, Lake Charles, La. 70605.
