09 NOV 2021, Notes for incoming transfer, sighted; added gender. 1) Bio section as written by the original creator of the memorial has been retained, and is below the divider. ~David Ralph Benham, son of Dave and Julia (Edgmon) Benham, was born April 11, 1921, in Westville, OK, and left this life to be with his Lord on July 8, 2012, in Stilwell, OK, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 27 days.

David married Myrtle Edna Patterson on December 23, 1940, in Stilwell, OK, and to this union 5 sons and 1 daughter were born: Bill, Joe, Charles, Gene, Debbie and Mike.

David was a self employed truck operator, a carpenter, and a mason. He served as an Adair County Under Sheriff, County Commissioner and Election Board Secretary. He received the outstanding Democrat of the Year Award in 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Julia Benham; wife, Edna Benham; brothers, Loyd Benham, Ned Benham, Robert Benham; sisters, Oma Bean, Susie Scarberry, Ader Burse; and son, Gene Benham.

David is survived by a loving family that includes his daughter, Debbie Wilson and husband Larry of Stilwell, OK; sons, Bill Benham, and wife Shirley of Wagoner, OK, Joe Benham and wife Linda, Charles Benham and wife Donna, Mike Benham, daughter in law, Nancy Benham, all of Stilwell, OK, 13 grandchildren; Sonya Farr and husband Rob, Rod Benham, Lesa Catron and husband Jeff, Kevin Benham, and wife Tia, Jeff Benham and wife Donna Jo, Chad Benham and wife Valerie, Stacy Thurber, Janene Gaches and husband Darrell, Andrea Brown and husband Casey, Latrecia James and husband Shandon, Larry Charles Wilson and wife Jessica, Melissa Eagle and husband Rob, and Misty Nelson and husband Peyton; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Dewey Williams Keeter; brother, Ed Benham; a special friend, Naomi Stephenson, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive him.

Funeral services at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Hubert Sponsler and Jack Steele officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
