Son of Lewis & Sarah (Mumford) Taylor, and husband of (1) Mary Margaret V. "Mollie" Moore, (2) Seletha J. Bunge. Green was born in the mid-1840s, and the date of his death was August 5, 1885. He & wife Mary are shown on the 1870 Bell Co., TX census, but then Mary died a few years later. They had three children: daughter Margaret Louella "Lula", born circa 1869, daughter Annie Cordelia born May 8, 1873, and son Lee Roy Taylor born January 26, 1875. Mary probably died sometime after Lee Roy's birth. After Mary's death, and on January 8, 1879, in Milam Co., TX, Green R. married Selatha J. Bunge (born June 6, 1852, died December 6, 1916), to whom he was married when he died. He allegedly went fishing one night, stepped off a cliff at Horseshoe Bend in the Little River (Bell/Milam Cos.) and drowned. No record can be found of him in 1880, but his grandson's application for a military tombstone states that Green died August 5, 1885. Also, [email protected] provided information from the "Galveston Daily News," dated August 7, 1885, which states that Green Taylor drowned in the Little River on August 5. It states that, at the time of his death, he was a former resident of Milam County and currently a resident of Minden, TX.

Note: The location of the grave of Green's first wife, Mary, is unknown. Could it be possible that she's buried in an unmarked grave next to Green's grave in the Graham Cemetery? Especially since they were living in Davilla at the time their youngest & last child was born in 1875?

After Green's death, Selatha later married John F. Knight, and the family then referred to her as "Grandma Knight." She is buried in the Corinth Cemetery at Buckholts, TX.

Lastly, Green R. Taylor's full siblings were: David J. Taylor, Sarah Ann (Taylor) Barker, Mary Frances (Taylor) McCasland, Lovey L. (Taylor) Server, Caroline (Taylor) Simmons, Candis Jane (Taylor) Moore. Candis Jane was married to Thomas Houston Moore, the younger brother of Mary Margaret V. (Moore) Taylor.
