Richard Raymond Wilson, 95, of Richland Center passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Richland Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1927 the son of William and Ethelyn (Barto) Wilson. Richard grew up in the city of Richland Center, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and served in the South Pacific for 2 years. He was very proud to serve his country. Richard and his two brothers served in the military at the same time.

Richard married Virginia Hart on July 30, 1949. The couple lived in Randolph for a short time and then returned to Richland Center where they raised their 7 children. Richard worked in his father's store, Wilson's Market. Richard was very young when his father died so his mother ran the business until his brother William took over. Richard continued to work there until his retirement, then he worked part time for the City of Richland Center. He enjoyed animals, children, family get togethers, and telling 'embellishing' stories.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, son John Dean, grandson Sean, brothers and sisters: Wilda (Pete) Johnson, John 'Weenie' (Blanche) Wilson, Phyllis (Butch) Krueger, William Jr. 'June' (Bea) Wilson, and Jeanne (William) Robinson.

The family would like to thank Doctor Thomas Richardson and the staff at Pine Valley Community Village for the wonderful care they gave to Richard over the past six years at Pine Valley.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Richland Center Cemetery with military graveside rites to be provided by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. A livestream of the service can be viewed at the Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service website. The family suggests memorials in Richard's name be directed to Richland Center American Legion Post 13 or Pine Valley Healthcare. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
