A little before midnight Sunday night, Dr. Baker received an urgent call to attend Mrs. Louis A. Ehlers, who had been taken suddenly and dangerously ill at Clifton Point. He responded at once, but before he reached the lady's residence, she had breathed her last. Her decease was alarmingly sudden, Tough not altogether unexpected, and resulted from a combination of diseases which had afflicted her for some time. During the afternoon preceding her demise she was apparently in good spirits,
and received her visitors and conversed with them as usual. It was not strange, then, that the news of the sad event caused considerable excitement in this village, where the lady was so well known and respected. Mrs, Ehlers was a native of Rhinebeck, daughter of the late William DeLamater, and was educated at the Rhinebeck academy, then conducted by Prof. Charles H. Stocking. Soon after completing her studies, she was married to Mr. Louis A. Ehlers, and resided until the time of her death on his beautiful place, Clifton Point She has always been loved for her unbounded generosity, cheerfulness of manner and the Sterling qualities which make a true woman an object of universal respect. She was a neice to Mr. P. M. Fulton, of this village, and Mr. Robert Fulton, of the Astor place. Married at an early age, she was still a young woman at the time of her decease, being aged but thirty-four years. The funeral services were held at the Church of the Messiah on Wednesday last, and a large number of the friends and relatives of the family accompanied the remains to their last resting place in the Rhinebeck cemetery. Deceased leaves a large family of young children to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother. To these and the bereaved husband, who keenly feel the weight of this affliction, we tender our sincerest sympathy.
